Highland Baseball Drops Pair On the Road Versus Neosho County

Highland looking to continue to battle for a playoff spot and did so against Neosho County on Saturday but suffered a pair of losses on the road.

Scotties fell 4-0 in game one of the doubleheader and then suffered a 14-1 loss in game two in seven innings.

Game one saw minimal offense on both sides but the Scotties were unable to unable to score unlike Neosho who plated a run in the first and fourth inning, along with two in the fifth to take the game 4-0. Scotties best scoring opportunity came in the sixth when Highland worked the bases loaded but were unable to snag a run.

The first game was a battle on the mound as Noah McClanahan was strong for the Scotties in the loss tossing five innings giving up four runs (two earned) on seven hits, four walks and two hit batters. Offensively the Scotties managed just four hits as Jackson Rehkow, Jason Gonzalez, Victor Sanchez and Justin Rieschick each had a hit.

Jordan McClellan started game with a bang for the Scotties blasting a solo home run his second of the season, but Neosho County answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning. Neosho County did the rest of the scoring for the game plating five in the second, two in the third and five more in the fourth ending the game in seven innings as the Scotties fell 14-1.

Nick Schifftner went 2-3 in game two for the Scotties who had nine hits in the game as a team, while McClellan was 1-3 with a home run. Rehkow, Nash Nickle, Dalton Burt, Gonzalez and Rieschick each had a hit. Max Milligan tossed two and one third innings as the starter, while Dylan Arnett finished the contest with three and two thirds innings pitched and struckout five.

The pair of losses move the Scotties to 10-37 on the season and 4-24 in Conference play. Highland will be in action again on Tuesday, April 30th at home against North Central Missouri College, while then wrapping up Conference play at the end of the week with a four-game series against Allen County.
