Following a 16-day Holiday break layoff, Indian Hills returns to action to close out the 2023 calendar year with a non-league contest against the Thunderbirds of Cloud County.

  • Sophomore Trevion LaBeaux is the first Warrior to average a double-double through 13 team games since Ivan Aurrecoechea in 2017-18. LaBeaux is averaging team-highs of 14.4 points and 10.0 rebounds per game.
  • Seven different players have led the Warriors in scoring through the team's first 13 games of the season.
  • The Warrior bench tallied 30 points in its last game vs. Seward County, the team's fifth game with at least 30 bench points on the year. Indian Hills is averaging 26.0 bench points per game this year.
  • Dating back to the 1993-93 season, the Warriors are 29-3 vs. teams from the state of Kansas, including six consecutive wins.
  • The Warriors are 3-0 all-time on December 30 with wins in 2017, 2009, and 2004 and are 29-6 in the team's final game before the new year, dating back to 1987.

LAST TIME OUT

Indian Hills is coming off its most dominant victory of the year in the team's last outing, an 82-42 victory over Seward County Community College on December 14 at the Hellyer Center.

Led by a season-high 19 points from Amarion Nimmers and 17 points from Davontae Hall, the Warriors shot 50.0 percent from the floor while holding the Saints to just 26.6 percent shooting.

SERIES HISTORY

Indian Hills and Cloud County have squared off just once before, a November 4 meeting last season that saw the Warriors take a 79-68 victory at the Hellyer Center as part of the RV & Powersports Classic.

SCOUTING THE THUNDERBIRDS

Cloud County is off to a 9-3 start on the year, including a 4-3 mark in the competitive Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference. The Thunderbirds are 2-3 over the team's last five contests after opening the season with seven consecutive wins.

  • Ja'ron Briggs Jr. leads four players in double-figures with a team-high 14.3 points per game while shooting 49.5 percent from the floor along with a team-high 7.8 rebounds per game.
  • Cheikh Sow adds 14.1 points per game while Isaiah Sy and Abdoulaye Fall are tallying 12.1 and 12.0 points per game, respectively
  • Cloud County currently ranks third in the nation with 58.4 points per game allowed, holding three different opponents below 50 points this season.
  • The Thunderbirds rank 11th nationally with 18.5 free throws made per game and are shooting 72.8 percent from the charity stripe.
  • Four different players – Briggs, Sow, Fall, and Kyle McElroy have started all 12 games for the Thunderbirds this year.

WHAT'S NEXT

Indian Hills heads into the 2024 calendar year with its final home game of its nine-game homestand on January 6. The Warriors will host Highland Community College (IL) at 7:00 PM at the Hellyer Center.
