Blue Devils Record 33 Team Fouls in Loss to Panthers, 104-99

Mens Basketball 2023-2024

The Kansas City Kansas Community College men's basketball team (2-1) received its first loss of the season to the Ellsworth Panthers (3-0) 104-99 Nov. 7 in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Cortez Howlett came off the bench, scoring 26 of the Blue Devils' 99 points and shot 10-19 from the field.

KCKCC (35-70) only made four more shots than Ellsworth (31-65), but the Blue Devils managed to get 33 team fouls, a number that has not been reached in at least the last 11 years. The Panthers capitalized from the free throw line and converted 32 of the 47 shots from the line.

On top of Howlett's 26 points, the sophomore managed to get nine assists and shot 5-8 from the free throw line. He was one point away from tying his career high, where he scored 27 points against Fort Scott in February 2022.

The Blue Devils (2-1) will face the Metropolitan Community College Wolves (1-2) at 8 p.m. Nov. 10 at Hy-Vee Arena for the annual KCKCC Hall of Fame Classic.
