Blue Devils Split with North Iowa Area, 10-1 and 5-4

The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team (11-9) split against North Iowa Area (10-10) 10-1 and 5-4 Mar. 16 in Kansas City, Kan.

In the first game, the Blue Devils struggled offensively while just recording two hits and one walk. Sydney Becker scored the only run with her solo home run in the first at-bat in the game. Savannah Short was the other Blue Devil who recorded a hit.

Alyssa Droge pitched four innings and let up five runs from seven hits and two walks. She also tallied three strikeouts. Lillian Fisher came in and threw the last inning letting up five runs off three hits.

In game two,  Becker demonstrated offensive prowess, scoring one run with one hit in four at-bats, also securing one RBI with her solo home run. Gabrielle King contributed to her team's efforts, scoring one run with one hit in four at-bats. Although she didn't secure any RBIs, walks, or strikeouts, her presence on the bases was felt. Liberty Hawks had an outstanding performance with three hits in three at-bats, contributing two runs scored and three RBIs along with her two home runs. McKenna Lester tallied one hit from her three plate appearances. Short demonstrated offensive skills with two hits in three at-bats while hitting the only Blue Devil double. Kloey Dawes contributed with one hit in two at-bats. Jaycee Long showcased the ability to drive in runs with one RBI in two at-bats.

Hanna Acree threw for all seven innings and let four Trojans score from their four hits. She also recorded five walks and four strikeouts.
