Summer Perkins wasted no opportunities at the plate on Thursday, driving in six on three hits to lead Eastern past Coffeyville 12-4 on Thursday. Perkins drove in runs on a double in the first, a grand slam in the second and a double in the fourth.
Eastern earned the victory despite allowing Coffeyville to score three runs in the first inning.
Eastern pulled away for good with six runs in the second inning. In the second, Perkins homered on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring four runs.
Kally Henson was in the circle for Eastern. She surrendered four runs on five hits over six innings, striking out one.
Eastern launched two home runs on the day. Perkins went yard in the second inning. Sydney Green had a long ball in the fourth inning.
Eastern tallied 13 hits on the day. Perkins, Baylee Highfill, Avery Roberts and Katelyn Hoover all collected multiple hits for Eastern. Highfill and Perkins each collected three hits to lead the team.
