Blue Devils Mercy Rule Southwestern both games, 9-1 and 15-1

The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team (18-12) took down Southwestern Community College (8-14) 9-1 and 15-1 Apr. 3 at the KCKCC softball field. The Blue Devils have now won six of their last seven games and combined for a whopping 24 runs in Wednesday's series against Southwestern.

In the first game, Liberty Hawks emerged as the offensive powerhouse for the Blue Devils, recording a team-high four RBIs while going 3-4 at the plate. Sydney Becker also exhibited exceptional batting skills, notching an impressive two RBIs with her two hits. Kylie Vandervoort also made her mark on the game, crossing home plate twice and driving in another run. She also hit her second triple on the season. Both Jaycee Long and Savannah Short recorded a hit as well. Kloey Dawes went 1-4 at the plate but scored twice and had one RBI.

Alyssa Droge threw for all six innings letting up just one run from the five Spartan hits. She also struck out seven batters and is tied second for the season-high.

For the second game, the Blue Devils were hot at the plate recording 12 hits and three home runs. Those home runs came from Becker, Hawks and Adrianna Smith. Becker went for a perfect 3-3 at the plate and had three RBIs and scored twice. Dawes went 2-3 and scored three runners while tallying two RBIs. Long had her first multi-hit game going 2-3 and she had one RBI and scored one run. Adrianna Smith had three RBIs, all coming from her home run in the 2nd inning. Lester got her first triple on the season with her hard line drive down the right field line.

Hanna Acree threw for all five innings letting in just one run from the three Spartan hits. She struck out seven batters and walked just one batter.
