Blue Devils Mercy Rule Rockhurst JV, 16-6

The Kansas City Kansas Community College baseball team (2-1) took down the Rockhurst Hawks JV (0-1) 16-6 Feb. 12 in Kansas City, Kan. There were three Blue Devils who recorded a multi-hit game in Monday afternoon's clash. The game would come to a close in the seventh inning due to the Blue Devils leading by as many as 10 runs.

Gehrig Goldbeck had a productive game at the plate, going 3 for 5. He also scored two runs off other Blue Devil hits. Peyton Basler, despite having only two at-bats, managed to score four total runs. He was one of two players who recorded a triple and now leads the team with a .571 average at the plate. Jase Woita reached base twice out of his five plate appearances. In total, he scored three runs and drew two walks along with a double. Frankie Santiago had a huge at-bat in the first inning with scoring three runs off a bases loaded triple. Jackson Mervosh had a two-hit game and led the team with five RBI's. Caleb Reed recorded the win as he pitched two innings with four strikeouts, two walks and one hit. Weston Fries had an impressive outing with one inning pitched and three strikeouts. Gavin Killion started the game pitching two innings, letting up three hits, two strikeouts, one walk and one run.

The next game for the Blue Devils is against the Des Moines Area Community College Bears at 3 p.m. Feb. 16 in Gainesville, Tex.
