Lady Blue Devils Fall to Allen, 84-43

The Kansas City Kansas Community College women's basketball team (18-9, 6-4) fell to the Allen Community College Red Devils (19-5, 7-3), 84-43 Feb. 17 in Iola, Kan. Three Lady Blue Devils fouled out, and the team shot a season-low 26.1 percent from the field.

Victoria Jones was the leading scorer for the Lady Blue Devils, contributing 14 points along with five rebounds, two steals and one assist. She showcased her scoring ability but also made an impact on the defensive end. Jada Johnson provided solid support on offense with 13 points and contributed defensively with three rebounds and one steal. Ti'ye Davis provided a spark off the bench with five points while shooting 2 of 6 from the field. Symiah Bradley tallied four points, three rebounds and two steals.

Allen was led by Sarang West who finished the day with 17 points, six rebounds and three assists. Khassidy Warr shot 5 of 10 from the field and tallied 16 points along with nine rebounds. Sara Ortiz recorded a double double with 11 rebounds and 11 points while shooting an impressive 5 of 6 from the field. Noa Muranaka finished with 12 points and had one rebounds, one assist and one steal.

For the game, the Lady Blue Devils shot 26.1 percent from the field (12-46), 13.6 percent from three-point range (3-22) and 61.5 percent from the free-throw line (16-26). The Red Devils shot 46.8 percent from the field (29-62), 36.4 percent from three-point range (8-22) and 62.1 percent from the free-throw line (18-29). Allen County out rebounded the Blue Devils 45 to 31.

The next game for the Lady Blue Devils is against the Labette Community College Cardinals at 2 p.m. Feb. 24 in Parsons, Kan.
