No. 11 Blue Devils Split with Cowley, 3-2 and 2-1

The Kansas City Kansas Community College baseball team (28-4) split with Cowley Community College (26-11) 3-2 and 2-1 Apr. 4 in Arkansas City, Kan. The Blue Devils are now 16-2 in conference play, and Cowley is not far behind with a record of 12-2.

In the first game, Frankie Santiago's two-run home run sent the game into extra innings, but the Blue Devils fell short. Jackson Mervosh and Brady Patterson also contributed with one hit each, alongside key walks. Peyton Basler, Tanner Pachorek and Brady Kern each managed to get on base with walks. The Tigers had one more hit than the Blue Devils and scored in the bottom of the eighth inning to record a walk off win.

Maclane Finley threw for seven innings and let in two runs from the five Tiger hits. Dalton Smith came in to pitch in the eighth inning and let in the game winning run.

For the second game, Patterson led the Blue Devils with a double and two RBI. He also had a team high two hits. Marcus Dierks and Pachorek were the only other Blue Devils to record a hit. Gehrig Goldbeck and Mervosh scored the two runs for game two.

Mason Davenport pitched six innings and let in just one run from the four home team hits. He now has a 4.33 ERA on the season and is third highest with 35.1 innings pitched so far this season for the Blue Devils.
