Blue Devils Take First Game of Series Against Barton, 8-3

The Kansas City Kansas Community College baseball team (5-2) defeated Barton Community College (6-2) 8-3 Feb. 23. The Blue Devils tallied 10 hits during the home contest and were led by catcher, Brady Patterson who had a career-high seven RBIs from his three hits and one home run.

Gehrig Goldbeck went 2 for 3 at the plate, got walked twice and scored one run. Peyton Basler was the other Blue Devils' RBI, and he went 1 for 2 with one walk and scored one run. Jase Woita scored two runs and went 1 for 3 on the day. Jackson Mervosh, Tanner Pachorek and Brady Kern all had one hit each and combined for three walks, two runs and no strikeouts. Maclane Finley had a great day on the mound going six innings only letting up three hits, one run, two walks and added up five strikeouts. Weston Fries went two innings and let up one hit with no runs. Charlie Mosser pitched in the ninth inning and had three hits, two runs, one walk and one strikeout.

The Cougars tallied seven hits and struck out a total of six times. Hunter Seier was the only Cougar to record more than one hit and he went 2 for 4 at the plate. Robby Bolin, Owen Clyne, Ayden Hadley and Cesar Gomez all recorded one hit. Barton had 11 players left on base compared to the Blue Devils zero.
