Butler volleyball picks up two wins at Seminole triangular

SEMINOLE, Okla. - Butler volleyball improved to double-digit wins on the season with a pair of victories at the Seminole Triangular on Saturday.

Butler (11-7 overall, 1-6 conference) has now won seven of its last eight matches after beating Eastfield (Texas) and host Seminole State.

The Grizzlies swept Eastfield in three sets (25-18, 25-21, 25-21), then beat Seminole State in four sets (25-17, 17-25, 25-12, 25-21).

Against Eastfield, freshman hitter Kinzee Mayo led the Grizzlies with eight kills and hit at a .375 clip. Abby Goodrum had 16 digs, while Halie Sigurdson added 16 assists with six digs. Freshman setter Andie Nibarger finished with 15 assists and four aces. Nicole Klusener had a solid performance as she hit .312 with five kills along with five digs and three aces.

In the win over Seminole, Brooke Fender and Cassie Pauls had 12 kills each. Fender had a .435 hitting percentage and added nine digs, five serve aces and two blocks. Sigurdson had a team-high 16 assists to go with five digs. Freshman libero Katie Dyer led Butler with 17 digs along with four aces. Klusener also had 10 digs, seven kills and two aces. Mayo and Aliyah Bernard had three blocks each.

Butler will be on the road Wednesday in conference play against Pratt, with the match beginning at 6:30 p.m.
