Blue Devils Sweep Coffeyville, 10-0 and 14-6

The Kansas City Kansas Community College baseball team (18-3) took both games against Coffeyville Community College (9-13) 10-0 and 14-6 Mar. 16 in Kansas City, Kan.

In the first game, Gehrig Goldbeck demonstrated both patience and power, scoring a run, securing a hit and driving in another with a walk. Jase Woita had a standout performance, scoring twice, securing a hit and impressively driving in four runs while displaying great plate discipline with two walks and a home run. Marcus Dierks contributed with two hits and a walk, adding to the team's offensive momentum. He also hit a double. Freddie Nolen IV secured a double and a run, displaying his versatility in driving in a run as well. Tanner Pachorek displayed consistency with two hits, contributing to the team's offensive output.

Aaron Lewis threw a complete game giving up just three hits. He also didn't walk a single batter and struck out nine Red Ravens.

For the second game, Peyton Basler had a remarkable game, scoring four runs and securing two hits in four at-bats while contributing one RBI and drawing one walk. Goldbeck showcased his hitting prowess with an impressive three hits in five at-bats, driving in two RBIs and displaying patience at the plate with one walk. Jackson Mervosh contributed one run and one hit in five at-bats, while also driving in one RBI, drawing one walk and facing one strikeout. Woita had a standout performance, scoring two runs and securing two hits in three at-bats, while impressively driving in two RBIs and displaying excellent plate discipline with three walks. Brady Patterson contributed one run and one hit in four at-bats, driving in one RBI, drawing two walks and facing one strikeout. Dierks had a solid game with two hits in five at-bats, showcasing his hitting ability and drawing one walk. Frankie Santiago had an impressive offensive performance, scoring three runs and securing two hits in four at-bats, while driving in two RBIs, drawing one walk, and he hit the only Blue Devil home run. Brady Kern contributed with one run and one hit in three at-bats, also drawing one walk.

Donovan Johnson thew for 2.1 innings and let up all six Red Raven runs from the three hits and three walks. Will Bartkoski recorded the win throwing 1.2 innings while letting up no runs or hits. Nathaniel Uglialoro and Caleb Reed would finish the game with letting up just one hit and combined for three strikeouts.

The next game for the Blue Devils is against Benedictine University JV at 3:30 p.m. Mar. 19 in Atchison, Kan.
