Blue Devils Finish .500 on the Day, 3-2 and 12-4

The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team (3-5) went 1-1 at home against 10th ranked Kirkwood and Rock Valley 3-2 and 12-4 Mar. 1.

In the first game, the Blue Devils put together five hits as a team. Gabrielle King led the offense with two, while Adrianna Smith, Savannah Short and Sydney Becker all had one hit each. Becker and Short tallied the two RBIs. Alyssa Droge threw all seven innings and only let up four hits, one walk and three runs while having seven strikeouts.

 

Lexi Hines led Kirkwood with a two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to go up by three. Brenna Ross, Sailor Hill and Peyton Johnson were the only other Eagles to record hits. Natalie Vitek threw every inning and let up four hits, one walk, two runs and had five strikeouts.

 

In game two, the Blue Devils exploded in the second game against Rock Valley and had13 hits as a team. Liberty Hawks led the Blue Devils with an impressive plate appearance going 3 for 4 and having a team-high four RBIs. McKenna Lester, Savannah Short and Sydney Becker all had two hits, and they added four runs and five RBIs. Hawks and Becker, along with Kloey Dawes and Sara Portela  all recorded doubles while Hawks was the only Blue Devil that recorded a triple. Karson Hassan threw for 1.2 innings letting up three hits, three walks, three runs and two strikeouts. Hanna Acree came in and threw for the remaining 3.1 innings and only had three hits and one run scored against her while recording three strikeouts.

 

Rock Valley had six hits and scored four runs. Emma Krueger went 2 for 3 and had a team-high two RBIs. Grace McClain, Molly Kable, Diamond Blomlie and Faith McClain were the other Golden Eagle hits. Blomlie scored two runs and got walked once. Brooklyn Ogden only threw for 1.2 innings and let up six runs from five hits. She also walked four Blue Devils. Alison Hassett came in and pitched the remainder of the game and let up five hits, six runs and tallied four strikeouts.
