Highland softball embarked on a 10-day road trip to Alabama and Mississippi and opened the trip up with game action on Saturday, March 9th with a pair of wins over Coastal Alabama-Monroeville winning 7-5 and 5-2.

Game one saw the home team snag the early lead and Coastal Alabama-Monroeville tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the fourth but the Scotties had an answer in the top of the fifth. Chevelle Sartin got the scoring going as she blasted a two-run homer to draw the Scotties to within one run than an RBI double by Allyssa Griggs knotted the game up at 3-3. The lead then swung to the Scotties behind a two RBI single into right field by Alexis Hodapp as Highland plated five in the top of the 5th to lead 5-3. Monroeville managed to tie it up in the bottom of the 5th behind a pair of runs but Highland had an answer as Griggs blasted a ball off the fence for a two RBI double to give Highland the 7-5 lead. Scotties wiggled out of a jam in the bottom of the sixth as Monroeville stranded a pair and the Scotties went on to grab the 7-5 win.
