Blue Devils Lose Tight Race Against North Central Missouri, 51-45

The Kansas City Kansas Community College women's basketball team (4-3) just fell short to the North Central Missouri Pirates (8-1) 51-45 Tuesday night in Trenton, Mo. Sophomore guard, Jada Johnson recorded her first double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds. She now averages a team high 18.8 points per game this season.

Johnson shot 5-13 from the field and was 5-6 from the free throw line for a team high of 15 points. Behind Johnson, Jailynn Schmaltz scored 10 points coming off the bench and went 5-6 from the field with five rebounds. That is the second time this season the League City, Texas native has scored double digits. Symiah Bradley and Victoria Jones both tallied nine points each and shot 8-25 combined from the field.

The Pirates were led by Tori Meinecke who went 4-9 from the field, 7-11 from behind the free throw line and ended the night with 16 points. Meinecke also brought down 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. Gladys Brown came off the bench and tallied 11 points with 27 minutes on the court.

For the game, the Blue Devils shot 37.3 percent from the field (19-51), 6.7 percent from three-point range (1-15) and 75 percent from the free-throw line (6-8). The Pirates shot 29.6 percent from the field (16-54), 21.1 percent from three-point range (4-19) and 65.2 percent from the free-throw line (15-23). The Blue Devils also outscored the Pirates in the paint 34 to 22.

The next game for the Blue Devils is against the Haskell Fighting Indians JV at 3 p.m. Nov. 30 at Haskell University.
