Highland Men's Basketball Posts 2-0 Showing at Gladbach Classic in Fort Scott

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The #5 Highland men's basketball team hit the road for the first time this season and played a pair of neutral site contests in Fort Scott, Kansas as part of the Gladbach Classic on Thursday and Friday and picked up a 67-63 win over Neosho County and 90-74 win over Northwest Kansas Tech JV.

Scotties grinded out the four-point win against fellow KJCCC school Neosho County who's a Division I NJCAA program as Highland led just 29-25 at the half but stayed the course in the second half with strong defense to secure the 67-63 win over Neosho County.

Highland shot 44.2% from the floor, while holding Neosho County to 31.3% from the field and forced the Panthers into 18 turnovers. Pacing the Scotties was Rashon Johnson with a career high 24 points on 9-13 shooting, while Dylan Vincent continued his strong to the season recording 13 points, six rebounds and five assists. Marquise Milton chipped in 10 points off the bench.

It was a quick turnaround as Highland tipped off at 1:00pm on Friday after playing at 4:00pm the day before and were able to handle Northwest Tech JV leading 49-37 at the half and cruising to the double figure win in the second half despite Tech shooting over 40% from the floor.

The Scotties for the third time in four games this season shot 50+% from the floor shooting 57.6% and were 6-15 from three-point range, while forcing Northwest Tech JV into 25 turnovers. A pair of 21 point performances spear headed the day for the Scotties as Vincent dropped 21 points, five rebounds and nine assists, while Aguek Deng tallied 21 points, nine rebounds and four steals.
Milton chipped in double figures for the third time in four games this season finishing with 16 points on 6-8 shooting hitting three three-pointers, while Johnson posted 13 points in the win.

The 2-0 performance at Fort Scott moves the Scotties to 4-0 on the season and they keep things rolling with their first true road game of the season on Tuesday, November 12th at 7:00pm in Creston, Iowa against Southwestern. Highland will be home after that for the first of their two Scottie Classic's this season as they will host Quakerdale Prep Academy, Ottawa JV and Johnson County for action on Friday and Saturday, November 15th-16th.
