No. 18 Blue Devils Take Down No. 17 Hutchinson, 9-4

The Kansas City Kansas Community College baseball team (34-6) defeated the 17th ranked Hutchinson Community College (36-9) 9-4 Apr. 15 at the KCKCC Baseball Field. The Battle of the "Blues" started quickly with five total runs being scored in the first inning. The Blue Dragons brought in one run, and the Blue Devils recorded four.

Peyton Basler went 1-4 at the plate and crossed home plate for a crucial run. Jackson Mervosh dazzled the crowd, smashing three hits in four at-bats and blazed across the bases twice. Gehrig Goldbeck showcased his prowess with two clutch hits, adding fuel to the team's fiery momentum. Brady Patterson unleashed his power, driving in two pivotal runs with a clutch double. Frankie Santiago's tenacity was on full display as he hustled around the bases, scoring twice to ignite the team's explosive offense. Marcus Dierks delivered a solid performance, hammering two hits and driving in two electrifying RBIs. Freddie Nolen IV added to the excitement, delivering a clutch hit that drove in two runs. Brady Kern had the only Blue Devil home run and went for a solid 1-2 at the plate.

Gavin Killion recorded the win going five innings letting in just one run from the five Blue Dragon hits. He also struck out two batters. Will Bartkoski got the save not letting up a single hit and had two strikeouts.

The next series for the Blue Devils is against Neosho County Community College at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Apr. 20 at Hudson Field in Chanute, Kan.
