Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 After an 8-1 victory over Murray State College in game one, Highland softball will now have to work their way through the bottom of the bracket after losing the second game of the day to Johnson County 5-2.

Highland struck early in game one after putting together a two-out rally in the bottom of three scoring three-runs. Maddie Miller hit an RBI single while Julisa Ortega scored on an error and Kenzie Garvin was walked in.

The Aggies were able to score their first and only run of the game in the third inning after Caraway hit a double that scored Manis.

Highland put together another big two-out inning in the fourth scoring four-runs off five hits. The Scotties hit three singles in a row that was followed up by a Maddie Moore two-RBI triple. Sydney Anderson followed that up with an RBI double of her own.

Highland took a 7-1 lead and never looked back. They tacked on one more in the sixth on a Sam Moran RBI single. The Scotties went on to defeat the Aggies 8-1.

Madiie Moore went 2-3 with three-RBI's and Sydney Anderson added two RBI's. Kenzie Garvin went 3-4 with one run scored and one RBI in the game.

Julisa Ortega got the win pitching six innings giving up just one run on three hits. She struck out two and walked two.

Game two saw Highland sophomore Kenzie Garvin start things off against Johnson County with a leadoff double. She would get bunt around by Maddie Moore and would score on a Sydney Anderson sac ground out. Moore would score after an Aubry Hernandez sac ground out. Highland took a quick 2-0 lead but that would be their only two scores of the game.

It remained 2-0 until the top of the fourth inning when the Cavaliers came alive offensively and scored four runs to take a 4-2 lead over the Scotties. Highland struggled on the defensive end with eight errors in the game.

The Cavalier defense on the back of pitcher Megan Deiter would keep Highland scoreless the remainder of the game.

Johnson County scored their final run in the sixth after a throwing error on a steal that scored Tamara Hicks. Johnson County would go on to win 5-2.

Megan Deiter of Johnson County pitched all seven-innings giving up just two runs on four hits. She struck out six and didn't give up a walk.

Sydney Anderson and Aubry Hernandez both finished 1-3 with an RBI each.

Sunday will look much the same as Saturday with the Scotties taking on Murray State College, again, at 10:00am. The winner of that will have a crack at Johnson County at 12:00pm and would have to defeat them twice to become District D Champion.
