Box Score 2 Conference play continued on Tuesday for the #7 Highland Scotties as they hosted the Fort Scott Greyhounds. Game one went back and forth between the two teams and the Greyhounds took the victory 8-7 from Highland answered back in the second with a 9-0 win to split on the day.
GAME ONE
Julisa Ortega started on the mound for the first game against the Fort Scott Greyhounds and saw an aggressive start with three runs scored to start the game.
Sam Moran answered back in the bottom of the first hitting a leadoff solo home run and Alexis Hodapp does the same in the bottom of the second to bring the Scotties back within one. An RBI single would tie the game 3-3 in the bottom of the third.
Haley Donaldson took the mound in the top of the sixth after Fort Scott takes a 6-3 lead. Sydney Anderson hit a shot over the left field wall for a solo home run to cut the lead 4-6. Haley Donaldson's three run home run, her first of the year, gave the Scotties a 7-6 lead.
Reagan Hamm started on the mound in the final inning, and Fort Scott was able to score two runs off a wild pitch and an error to take the lead and an eventual win 8-7 over Highland.
GAME TWO
Highland started out their 9-run win early starting with a score on an overthrow and an RBI double to the center field wall by Kami Zimmerman. Cassidy Greer and Aubry Hernandez each contributed an RBI to give the Scotties a quick 4-0 lead after one.
Anderson started the scoring in the bottom of the second with a sacrifice fly. Hernandez then hit her 12th home run of the season with a two run shot over the fence, Highland leading 7-0. Sara Shinn hit a home run right after that over the left field wall. Kendra Baldridge scores the final run of the game on wild pitch 9-0 to end the game 9-0 in five innings.
The Scotties are now 26-7 and will face their final conference match-up against the Hesston Larks on Thursday with the first pitch scheduled for 4:00PM.
