Barton men's soccer player Augusto Militao strikes for his 1st collegiate goal

The 5th ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team pitched their sixth shutout of the season Monday afternoon at the Cougar Soccer Complex earning a 3-0 victory over Seward County Community College.

Having already clinched the program's 12th Jayhawk Conference title on Saturday, the Cougars conclude conference play with a top mark of 9-1-2 and move to 14-1-3 overall while the Saints finish tied for sixth in the conference standings at 3-7-2 and 8-7-3 on the season.

Barton wraps up the regular season Tuesday evening with a trip to Wichita for a 5:00 p.m. kickoff against the junior varsity squad of Newman University. The Cougars then enter post-season play on Saturday hosting a first-round playoff game tentatively scheduled for Saturday at 1:00 p.m. hosting sixth seeded Coffeyville Community College (3-7-2, 7-7-4).

Despite attacking against a sustained 25mph south wind in the opening frame, Barton would own possession for the majority of the first period blanking the Saints 10-0 in shots.

Leading goal scorer Lucas Constante broke the scoreless affair with 18:13 left in the opening frame receiving a one-touch give-and-go pass from Diego Sano to create a 1v1 far post net rattler for his 12th of the season.

Five minutes later Loic Kanku added to the Cougar lead, getting behind the Saints backline carrying Maxence Voinier's through ball into the box for a soft left footed kick for his 5th tally of the season.

Augusto Militao would close the scoring with 32:27 remaining as the sophomore's pick-of-the-pocket steal in the midfield produced his first collegiate goal fabricating a near side top shelf strike from 25-yards out.

Goalkeeper Dennis Bottcher improved to 12-1-3 on the year working 77:35 between the pipes while Victor Chavez guarded the final 12:25.
