RedTails Mens Soccer Get First Win 2-1 in Two-Game Weekend

RedTail Men's Soccer faced off against Neosho County Community College in Chanute, Kan., on August 26, winning with a score of 2-1.

Shimon Lofemba (34) got the RedTails on the board first in the first period with an unassisted score. Isaac Semini (6) would add to Lofemba's scoring with another goal, assisted by Genis Chacon (3), also in the first period. The RedTails then had the lead with 2-0 for a while until Aiden Bennett scored the first and last goal for the Panthers in the first period. There were no more goals after that, leaving the RedTails with their first win of the season (2-1) against the 17th nationally ranked Neosho County.

The RedTails then played Johnson County Community College. The RedTails fell to the Cavaliers (4-0). This was a tough battle and a good game of learning against a top side. The RedTails showed a lot more fight and determination in the second half and put their all into the game.

Head coach Chris Rennie had some positive words after the weekend.

"We were excited to get the game against Neosho, we have done well during pre pre-season and we want to get this match to give ourselves a gauge of where we are in our progress," he said. "Playing back to back games was always going to be difficult but we have learned a lot about ourselves this weekend and look forward to getting back on the training pitch this week to work on a few specific areas."

The RedTails next matchup is Wednesday, August 30, at North Iowa Area Community College at 3:30pm.
