Blue Devils Hammer Neosho, 84-64

The Kansas City Kansas Community College men's basketball team (15-9, 6-2) hammered the Neosho Community College Panthers (12-11, 3-4), 84-64 Feb. 7 at Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley. The Blue Devils shot an impressive 57.9 percent from the field and didn't let the Panthers take the lead one time in the game.

Jaylon Moses led the team with 16 points, shooting an impressive 7-12 from the field. Reginald Morris also made significant contributions with 14 points, connecting on 5 of his 8 field goal attempts and 4 of his 6 three-point shots. BJ Stewart came up just short of a double double as he had 10 points and eight rebounds along with two steals and one assist. The Blue Devil bench combined for 34 points as Pierce Ross shot an impressive 4 of 6 from the field and ended the night with 10 points. Mikequese Taylor went 4 of 5 and tallied nine points. O'shawn Jones-Winslow had eight points with three rebounds and one block. KJ Kennon and Mason Jones combined for the remaining seven points while shooting a solid 3 of 5 from the field.

Shaun Holmes and Isaiah Howell led the scoring for Neosho, with both having an impressive 17 points and combined for 12 rebounds, five assists and one steal. Damian Jones ended the night with 14 points, three assists, two steals and one rebound. Michael Doria was the last Panther who finished in double figures as he had 11 points, one rebound and one assist. The bench only provided three points, all free throws, and shot 0-8 from the field. There were six Panther players who didn't finish with a single point.

For the game, the Blue Devils shot 57.9 percent from the field (33-57), 45 percent from three-point range (9-20) and 64.3 percent from the free-throw line (9-14). The Panthers shot 39.7 percent from the field (23-58), 42.1 percent from three-point range (8-19) and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line (10-15). During the game, the Blue Devils outrebounded the Panthers 38 to 24 and tallied 31 more bench points. 

The next game for the Blue Devils is against the Johnson County Community College Cavaliers at 4 p.m. Feb. 10 in Overland Park, Kan.
