No. 11 Blue Devils Swept by Cowley, 4-3 and 5-1

The Kansas City Kansas Community College baseball team (29-6) got swept by Cowley Community College (26-11) 4-3 and 5-1 Apr. 6 in Arkansas City, Kan. This is the first time the Blue Devils have been swept this season. Game one went to 11 innings, and the Blue Devils got out hit by the Tigers five to 10.

In the first game, standout performances emerged from Brady Patterson and Peyton Basler. Patterson showcased his prowess at the plate, driving in a notable three runs with just one home run in four at bats, making him a key offensive force for the team. Basler displayed a balanced approach, securing one run on one hit in his four at bats while also drawing one walk. Jackson Mervosh went 1-3 at the plate and got walked once.

Aaron Lewis threw for six innings and let in three runs from seven hits and three walks. Bryson Vawter pitched for 2.1 innings and walked three Tiger batters, struck out three and let up one run.

For the second game, Marcus Dierks stood out with a strong performance, securing one run on one hit in just one at bat, while also drawing two walks. Brady Kern also made an impact, driving in a run with one hit in three at bats. Gehrig Goldbeck demonstrated patience at the plate, drawing two walks and had just one other at bat. The Blue Devils struggled at the plate and struck out seven times as a team.

There were three pitchers for the Blue Devils - Caleb Deer, Donovan Johnson and Will Bartkoski. Deer threw for the first 2.2 innings and let in one run while walking three batters and one hit.

The next game for the Blue Devils is against State Fair Community College at 1 p.m. Apr. 9 at Liberty Park Stadium in Sedalia, Mo.
