Highland Volleyball Cruises Past Indian Hills

Box Score The streak continues for the volleyball team as they played their final regular season non-conference match on Saturday playing at Indian Hills.

Scotties snagged their 17th win over the season that has come in three sets as Highland won 25-16, 25-15, 25-19 over Indian Hills.

Highland took the first set 25-16 on the road notching 18 kills in the set with seven coming from the hands of Cajia Allen, while set two the offense was spread out with Hannah Williams leading the way with five kills and the Scotties finished the make taking advantage of Indian Hills mistakes in the third set to guide them to the win.

Allen spear headed the Scotties performance on the day registering her 12th double-double of the season posting 13 kills and 11 digs, while Williams had double figure kills for the fourth time this season notching 12 and adding three blocks on the day. Katie Pearson posted her 18th double-double of the season with 34 assists and a team high 16 digs, as Myla Turner notched a 15 dig performance in the win. Emma Cohalla and Lee Sexton chipped in eight and seven kills each, while Kirsten Johnson and Amber Hildebrand added nine and eight digs each.

The record breaking performances continue to pile up for the Scottie volleyball team as they continue to notch Top 5 numbers all-time in school history. As a team with 1,586 kills they rank fifth in a single season and now rank third in a single season in assists with 1,454, also. Individually, Pearson moved to second all-time in a single season in assists (1,287) only behind her mark from last year, while also moving up to third all-time in school in career digs behind only her teammate Johnson and Leslie Polanco. Cohalla jumped to fourth in career kills for the Scotties with her showing against Indian Hills.

Scotties wrap up the regular season on Tuesday, October 30th at home against Coffeyville in a matchup that looms big with plenty riding on it as the KJCCC East title is on the line and the right to host Districts for Highland is on the line. The #3 versus #1 battle is set for 5:30pm at the Ben Allen Field house. (Game will be streamed on the Scottie Sports Network).
