Neosho County Takes All Four Games from the Scotties

The Scottie Baseball team traveled to Chanute, KS to start conference play against the undefeated Neosho County Panthers.

 

Game one

Josue Ortiz started out the day with a double, eventually earning the Scotties a run off of a single to left field by Chris Procopio. The Panthers answered back the next inning off of Foth-Thomas to take a 2-1 lead.

Dalton Burt scored on a wild pitch in the 4th tying the game back up 2-2, again with the Panthers protecting their field scoring another run; 3-2. Mason Nagle powered a home run over the fence in the 6th, score 3-3, but Neosho came back with a triple to take the game 4-3.


Game two

DeLaToree of Neosho County hit a three run homerun to start the game followed by six more runs taking a big 9-0 lead. Mason Nagle hit an RBI single to right field to get the Scotties on the board but would lose 21-1.

 

Game three

The third inning saw all the action for the Scotties. After a quick 3-0 lead by the Panthers, Rieschick scored on an error to start a run for Highland. Nagle hit an RBI single to right field, followed by a sacrifice fly by Burt, scoring Procopio. A 4-3 lead was earned but the Panthers got hot and came back to win 10-4.

 

Game four

The final game of the series went in favor of the Panthers scoring 10 runs while the Scotties could not get any runs on the board. Justin Rieschick struck out six guys followed by Rafael Lara with three.

 

Highland will travel to Baker to take on their JV team on Tuesday, March 6th with the first pitch at 4:00PM.
