Blue Devils Play 'Out of this World' vs Moberly, 22-1 and 9-0

The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team (22-14) swept Moberly Area Community College (10-28) 22-1 and 9-0 Apr. 8 in Moberly, Mo. Savannah Short went for a perfect 5-5 on the day while adding four runs for the Blue Devils offense.

In the first game, there were several standout performers for the Blue Devils. Kloey Dawes scored four times and had three RBI while going a solid 4-5 at the plate. She also had two doubles. Liberty Hawks went for an impressive 3-5 with three RBI and scoring three runs. She also hit her 12th home run on the year. Adrianna Smith also went 3-5 scoring four runs and an RBI. Annika Smith recorded three hits with her four at bats and hit in three RBI while scoring three times. Kylie Vandervoort went 2-4, scored both times she got on base, knocked in one run and got her second double on the season.

Alyssa Droge threw for the first three innings letting in just one run from the six Greyhound hits. Landri Lopez entered the game in the fourth inning and struck out one batter and let up one hit in her one inning of work. Alexis Smith came in for the final inning and didn't let up a single hit or walk while striking out one batter.

For the second game, Sydney Becker displayed a solid performance scoring twice and securing one hit. Dawes managed to secure two hits and one RBI from a double. Adrianna Smith had her first grand slam on the season in the top of the third inning. Short made her mark with one hit and two runs scored. She recorded her ninth double on the season as well. Jaycee Long showcased her abilities, securing one hit and one walk while scoring once. Annika Smith made timely contributions, recording one hit and driving in two runs. Vandervoort rounded off the team's performance with one hit and two RBIs.

Alexis Smith went the distance while letting up just three hits, one walk and six strikeouts. Her best performance of the year so far. She now has 10.1 innings pitched on the season with an impressive 1.35 ERA.

The next series for the Blue Devils is against Hesston College at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Apr. 11 at the Blue Devil softball field.
