The Highland CC Volleyball Team (5-3, 19-11) traveled down to Hesston, Kansas to take on the 11-12 Hesston Larks. The Scotties entered the game with a 6 game losing streak and were able to get a win under them with a 3 straight set victory 25-21, 25-13, 25-18.
Tyrecia Lukes and Leslie Polanco both had a spectacular hitting percentage of .524, each hitting 14 and 12 kills respectively. Marianna Falls and Shailey Caudle added in 9 kills apiece with Megan Rhule and Koie Orozco both contributing 3 and 2 kills as well. Rhule controlled the offense with 40 set assists with Josie Vitosh adding in 3 of her own. Polanco added on double-double number 7 of the year with 11 digs. Falls also had 11 digs, Vitosh with 10, and Bartonek and Caudle with 7 a piece. Lukes was able to add in 6 total blocks of the teams 17.
The Scotties are now 20-11 on the year, hitting the 20 win mark for the first time since 2011. The volleyball team will travel to Fort Dodge, Iowa to play in the Triton Volleyball Invitational on October 21st and October 22nd.
