Women's basketball vs Butler

The Lady Red Devils traveled today to take on Butler in another conference matchup. The ladies would get off to a very sluggish start against a very athletic Butler team. The defensive pressure Butler showed would frustrate the ladies in their offense and lead to a low scoring half. The ladies would not have the same mindset as they had in previous matchups of attacking the rim and getting open shots from kick outs. Sequerah Alleyne tried to lead an attack by her aggressive play but no one would join in with her. The ladies were also in foul trouble early in the game with all 3 post players sitting the bench for an entire quarter. The ladies would only score 9 points in the second quarter to Butlers 18 leaving a halftime deficit of 36-22.

The second half would be much of the same song and dance as Butler would continue to dominate inside with their size. And again, the lack of offense plagued the ladies to only scoring 4 points in the third quarter - all being from the free throw line. Kam Summons came in and made a difference by her defense and getting to the paint on offense and drawing fouls for easy points. The ladies got down big in the third quarter and would not fight back to overcome any of the damage done. The first field goal in the second half for the Devils would come with 4 minutes left in the game. The final resulted in a brutal one-sided score of 37-73.

The ladies were led by Sequerah Alleyne who had 9 points and Kam Summons who had 8 points and 8 rebounds. This loss snapped the three game winning streak the ladies were building on. The ladies are now 3-2 in conference and will take on Barton at home on Wednesday night.
