CONCORDIA, Kan. - Colby Community College fell on the road to Cloud County Community College 75-55 on Wednesday night. The Trojans are now 6-17 on the year and fall to 2-16 in the KJCCC.
The Trojans got out of the gate ton a good start of the game with an aggressive offense that saw open shots forming the basket. After that, the home team would flex its muscles and their physical play proved to be too much for the Trojans. The second and third quarters were not into the Trojans on the offensive end. Again, live ball turnovers (24) led to runouts and 31 points for Cloud, proving to be the difference in the game.
"I thought our start to the game was a positive, but then we just gave in to the physical play they threw at us and we didn't execute as well. It's disappointing to see us continue this trend in games, but it's part of the growing process to this program and the journey we are on. Our bright moments need to be stretched out for longer runs and we have control over that, just need our players to commit to it and compete tougher. It's been a long year which has proved to be a physical and mental challenge, calling for continued growth and investment. As of today, we have earned a spot in the Region 6 tournament, but we need to keep fighting it and work to get a couple more wins to make sure we stay in the playoff picture. It's all about our growth and perseverance right now." added coach Spence.
The Trojans will be back home on Saturday, February 18th to take on Cowley College at 2 pm CT.
