It was a slow start for both teams until the 8:19 mark of the first quarter as Butler took advantage of solid starting field position and split the uprights with a 39-yard field goal by Jacob Abel. Scotties looked to answer mounting a drive that saw Joseph Cambridge hit Donmonic Perks Jr. on a 34-yard pass play setting up the Scotties in Grizzly territory but the next play the Scotties turned the ball over on a fumble ending their drive.

Butler capitalized on the turnover with another scoring drive as Brock Struges busted a 36-yard touchdown run and Highland trailed 10-0 with 5:25 remaining in the first quarter. Highland and another opportunity covering 51 yards on nine plays to get to the 24-yard line of the Grizzlies but the Scotties drive was halted after they were unable to convert on a fourth and two play.
Grizzles took over on downs and shortly into the second quarter found the endzone on a 40-yard touchdown passes making 16-0 after the missed extra point. Butler added a 26-yard field goal before halftime and the Scotties trailed 19-0 at intermission.

Highland once again mounted a drive to attempt an answer to a Grizzly score and this time the Scotties visited the endzone using the passing attack as Cambridge hit Kajaun Jackson for a six-yard touchdown making it 26-7. Butler countered on the next drive with another touchdown on a 24-yard pass from Steven Frank to George Qualls making it 33-7.

Scotties would have one more big scoring threat getting inside the 10-yard line and were faced with a fourth down play and went for it but were able to convert giving the ball back to the Grizzles who kept the Scotties on their heels the rest of the game as Highland fell 33-7.
