Blue Devils Split Series with MCC, 12-0 and 3-2

The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team (16-12) slpit with Metropolitan Community College (6-20) 12-0 and 3-2 Mar. 29 at the KCKCC softball field. The Blue Devils offense exploded in game one against MCC scoring 12 runs from 13 hits.

In the first game, Sydney Becker stepped up with two runs, two hits and one RBI in three at-bats. Kloey Dawes made waves scoring three runs and securing two hits in just two at-bats, proving to be a dynamic force on the field. She also recorded her second triple of the year. However, it was Liberty Hawks who stole the spotlight with an impressive performance, tallying two runs, two home runs and a whopping six RBIs in three at-bats, leaving the opposing team reeling. Adrianna Smith and McKenna Lester held their own with one run and two hits each, contributing to the team's offensive onslaught. Savannah Short added to the excitement, scoring two runs with one hit, while Jaycee Long made a memorable impact with a crucial double that brought in three runs.

Alyssa Droge threw for three innings and recorded three strikeouts, no runs and no hits. Landri Lopez also didn't let up a run in her two innings of work and struck out one player.

For the second game, the Blue Devils went into extra innings but fell short in the eighth. Dawes electrified the crowd with a dazzling display, tallying two runs and an impressive three hits in three at-bats. She also recorded a double. Adrianna Smith managed to contribute one hit in three at-bats, showcasing her determination to make an impact. Lester demonstrated her clutch ability, driving in one run and reaching base once with a hit and a walk in four at-bats. Long went one for four at the plate and Annika Smith also recorded one hit in her three at-bats.

Hanna Acree threw for 4.2 innings letting up two runs from six hits and one walk. She also struck out four Wolves. Alyssa Droge came in for the remaining 3.1 innings and let up one run from the four Wolves hits.

The next game for the Blue Devils is against Southwestern Community College at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Apr. 2 at the Blue Devil softball field.
