Daniels Scores 15 first half points, Scotties win 90-67

After a sloppy loss to Brown Mackie back in January, the Scotties had a different mindset coming into one of their final games in Ben Allen Field House on the year.

Dontre English was back at it again offensively scoring 20 points and helping his team to a 90-67 win over the Brown Mackie Lions, the Scotties 21st win of the year.

After a Brown Mackie player was ejected halfway through the first half, the Scotties took advantage of the Lions and jumped out to a quick 18-point halftime lead. Highland scored 50 points in the first half with the help of freshman Jaquan Daniels who scored 15 of his 16 in the first half.

The Scotties came out of the locker room and put together a 14-4 run to start the second half, a run the Lions would never be able to recover from. Highland went on to win the game 90-67.

Dontre English led all scorers on the night with 20 points. He pulled down seven rebounds and dished out seven assists. Jaquan Daniels finished with a double-double 16 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman point guard Ryan Haskins went 4-7 from deep and ended with 14 points, five rebounds and five assists. Danmons O'Conner was the other Scottie in double figures scoring 10 points.

Highland is now 21-7 overall and 7-3 in Region VI play. They will host Fort Scott CC on Saturday, February 25th at 3:00pm. That day is also Sophomore Recognition Day and will recognize Scottie sophomores Collin Jasper and Kamaal Davis prior to the start of the Men's game.
