11.14

The Kansas City Kansas Community College men's basketball team (4-2) had six Blue Devils in double figures as they thumped the Ottawa Braves JV (0-1) 86-56 Nov. 14 at Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley. Guard Mikequese Taylor led the Blue Devils with 20 points, while guards Cortez Howlett and Reginald Morris tallied 15 points each.

The Braves came within four points of the Blue Devils with 13:54 remaining in the second half, but just seven minutes later, the lead grew to 91-71 with 6:58 remaining on the clock. It did not help Ottawa's chances to secure a victory when 25 Brave turnovers turned into 38 Blue Devil points.

For the game, the Blue Devils shot 46.8 percent from the field (44-94), 23.1 percent from three-point range (6-26) and 77.8 percent from the free-throw line (14-18). This is the first time this season that the Blue Devils have had 94 field goal attempts on their way to out muscling the Braves in points in the paint, 68-30. The Braves never led, and the largest lead for the Blue Devils was 34 points.

The Blue Devils (4-2) are set to face Moberly Area (3-2) at 5 p.m. Nov. 17 at State Fair for the State Fair Classic.
