The Highland Scotties stay on their hot streak this season cruising by conference opponent the Fort Scott Greyhounds with an 85-43 victory. With a loud crowd in the home team's favor, the Scotties started the evening in high energy fashion.
Niccolly Ramalho and Berneizha Tidwell got the Scotties going late in the 1st quarter after a slow start to the game. Mariane De Caravaho and Blaize Burgess knocked down 3 threes together to help a 25-12 lead.
Off the bench, Tidwell had three steals helping force 14 turnovers on the Hounds in the 1st half and Maria Alcantara was aggressive on the boards leading with six rebounds.
The second half showed no mercy with the Hounds only producing 19 total points. Highland earned 15 steals and forced another 19 turnovers. Caravalho lead the half with nine points and seven rebounds.
Consistency showed on the leader board with the sophomores taking control. Caravalho put in 4-7 threes with a total of 22 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Ramalho shot 57% from field-goal range with 15 points, adding six rebounds, four assists, and five steals. Burgess knocked down 3 threes and Tidwell came off the bench to contribute 12 points, and seven steals.
Highland's bench and freshman produced big stats led by Alcantara with eight rebounds and eight points. Keondra White grabbed seven rebounds and Stefania Chiziane put in seven points, three rebounds, and three steals. The bench out-scored the Greyhounds 33-13.
Highland hosts #11 Labette on Saturday, February 10th with a 1:00 tip-off. The Scotties won the last match-up on the road 67-63.
