Red Devils Comeback Falls Short

The Red Devils took on #3 Coffeyville Monday night, and despite a furious second half comeback Allen fell 93-77 to the Red Ravens. In the early going of the first half both teams struggled to score the ball as both teams traded defensive stops for the first 10 minutes of play. The Red Devil offense was hesitant in the first half and allowed Coffeyville's pressure to take them out of offense. Due to poor free-throw shooting from the Red Ravens (2-10 in the first half), the Red Devils were able to hang around until late in the half when Coffeyville extended their lead to 21 points. The Red Ravens would go onto lead 47-26 at the break.

Early in the second half Coffeyville pushed their lead to 30 points, as Allen turned the ball over which led to easy baskets for the Red Ravens. After a quick timeout, the Red Devils began to make their run. Allen was able to shrink the 30 point lead all the way down to 4 points with about 4 minutes left in the game. In the second half the Red Devils caught fire from the 3 point line as they connected on 8 of 13 attempts. The atmosphere in the gym was great as the Red Devils made their push to get back into the game. The Red Ravens responded with a run of their own to push the lead back to double digits in the final minutes of play. The Red Devils showed great fight in the second half and made the game interesting late, but  the comeback would fall short.

Allen was led in scoring by Perry Carroll with 22 points on 9 of 15 shooting. Carroll also dished out 7 assists and grabbed 5 rebounds. Malik Hardmon scored 14 points. Nathan Williams had one of his most productive games in a Red Devil uniform with a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds. Trez Hankins scored 9, and Jamaal Clifton scored 7. The Red Devils are now 13-12 on the season, and 5-11 in KJCCC play.

Next up Allen will travel to Concordia, KS to take on Cloud County Wednesday for a 8:00 PM tipoff.
