Jones Leads the Blue Devils to Victory over John Wood, 83-70

The Kansas City Kansas Community College men's basketball team (6-6) defeated the John Wood Blazers (5-3) 83-70 Saturday afternoon at Rockhurst University. Caleb Jones led the team with both 22 points and seven rebounds. This marks the third consecutive game that Jones has scored in double figures.

 

Reginald Morris went 5-9 from three-point range and ended the day with 17 points along with one assist, one steal and one rebound. O'shawn Jones-Winslow started the fourth game in a row and had 11 points, three rebounds and two assists. Cortez Howlett came off the bench and supported the Blue Devils with his 10 points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal.

 

The Blazers were led by Logan Robbins who had 18 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Josiah Talton came off the bench and scored 12 points with two rebounds and two steals. Cachao Gianquinto Jr. led the Blazers with six assists and ended the day with eight points and five rebounds.

 

For the game, the Blue Devils shot 49.2 percent from the field (29-59), 35 percent from three-point range (7-20) and 85.7 percent from the free-throw line (18-21). The Blazers shot 42 percent from the field (29-69), 38.1 percent from three-point range (8-21) and 50 percent from the free-throw line (4-8). The Blazers only led one time during the game, and it was by one point at the 18:09 minute mark in the first half.

 

The next game for the Blue Devils is against the Metropolitan Wolves at 7 p.m. Dec. 5 at Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley.
