KCKCC Softball Thumps Moberly Area, 18-2 and 11-3; End Early Because of Mercy Rule

The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team (5-7) thrashed Moberly Area Community College (1-11) 18-2 and 11-3 Mar. 6 in Kansas City, Kan.

In the first game, the Blue Devils put together a season-high 13 runs in the second inning. The team had 14 hits, three of those from Liberty Hawks who had a double and three RBIs. Sydney Becker had an impressive day at the plate bringing in six RBIs while going 2 for 3 at the plate. Becker also scored four runs and hit the only home run for the Blue Devils. McKenna Lester went 2 for 4 and had three RBIs. Both Kloey Dawes and Gabrielle King had two hits apiece and added up for five runs.

 

Alyssa Droge threw all five innings for the Blue Devils letting up five hits, two runs and one walk. She ended the day with four strikeouts.

 

In game two, the Blue Devils once again put together 14 hits while scoring 11 runs. Hawks and Lester had three hits each and added up two RBIs and four runs. Hawks also tallied her third triple of the season. Adrianna Smith, Sydney Becker and Dawes all had two hits and added four RBIs and four runs. Becker, Adrianna Smith and Annika Smith also recorded a double.

 

Karson Hassan started on the rubber for the Blue Devils and threw for two innings letting up just two hits and two runs. Alexis Smith threw in the third inning letting up one hit and one run. Hanna Acree finished the final two innings not letting up a single hit and recorded three strikeouts.

 

The next game for the Blue Devils is against Ellsworth at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. Mar. 9 in Kansas City, Kan.
