Lady Blue Devils Advance to Finals with Huge Win Over Allen, 63-56

The Kansas City Kansas Community College women's basketball team (22-9) took down Allen Community College (22-6), 63-56 Mar. 8 in the semifinals of the KJCCC Tournament at Johnson County Community College. The Lady Blue Devils lost to Allen twice in the regular season, 69-44 and 84-43, but won when it mattered.

Leading the charge was Victoria Jones, who played a pivotal role in guiding the team to victory. Despite facing a tough defense, Jones contributed 10 points, showcasing her scoring ability from both inside and beyond the arc. She also made her presence felt on the boards, pulling down eight rebounds and distributing the ball effectively with five assists. Jada Johnson provided valuable support, contributing eight points and showcasing her versatility with five rebounds and two assists. Sarah Khamis added three points to the scoreboard while contributing defensively with two steals. Kaylyn Rogers emerged as a standout performer for the team, delivering an impressive performance on both ends of the court. Rogers dominated in the paint, scoring a team-high 22 points and pulling down 11 rebounds, demonstrating her prowess as a versatile forward. She also made key defensive plays, recording four steals and one block. Symiah Bradley and Jailynn Schmaltz provided valuable contributions off the bench, combining for 17 points and 10 rebounds. Bennett Peck also added three points to the team's total.

For the game, the Lady Blue Devils shot 46.8 percent from the field (22-47), 31.3 percent from three-point range (5-16) and 60.9 percent from the free-throw line (14-23). Allen shot 34.8 percent from the field (24-69), 45.5 percent from three-point range (5-11) and 60 percent from the free-throw line (3-5).
