Seven Scotties score in double digits in 127-27 win

The Highland Women's Basketball team continued their undefeated streak in an afternoon matchup with Oklahoma Wesleyan University JV defeating them 127-27 improving to 13-0.
 
Highland came out of the gates quick scoring 16 unanswered points. They finished the 1st quarter with 29 and only allowing the Eagles to score five points.
 
The tenacious Highland defense showed their teeth in the second quarter holding the Eagles to just three points. They forced 24 first half turnovers and held the Eagles to only 16% from the floor and 0-6 from three-point land. Highland took a 62-8 lead into the locker room.
 
Highland pieced together another big run to start the third quarter scoring 21 unanswered points to take an 83-8 lead with 3:54 left in the third. The Scotties would continue to increase their lead throughout the fourth and finish the game winning by triple digits 127-27.
 
Oklahoma Wesleyan struggled to make a basket all game shooting only 13.5% from the floor and 0-16 from behind the arc. Highland forced 34 Eagle turnovers and had 24 steals scoring 54 of their 127 points off of turnovers. Highland out rebounded the Eagles 58-24
 
Kamryn Lemon had a career high 24 points to lead all scorers. She also finished with four assists and two steals. "In warmups, my shots were going in so once the game got started, the adrenalin started pumping, the rims just kept getting bigger," commented Kamryn Lemon in her post-game interview.
 
Six other Scotties scored in double figures in the game including double-doubles from both Niccolly Ramalho and Sydney Brinlee. Ramalho, coming off of a near quadruple double last Thursday, tried her best to match that with a near triple-double again.

Sydney Brinlee- 14 points, 11 rebounds
Blaize Burgess- 14 points, five assists and four rebounds
Maria Alcantara- 12 points and eight rebounds

Highland remains unbeaten now at 13-0 on the year. They will play in Beatrice, NE this Friday and Saturday against Central Community College-Columbus on Friday at 2:00pm and Southeast Community College on Saturday at 4:00pm.
