Blue Devils Take Down Undefeated State Fair, 67-57

The Kansas City Kansas Community College women's basketball team (7-5) took down the State Fair Roadrunners (10-1) 67-57 Saturday afternoon at State Fair Community College. The game was tied heading into the fourth quarter, but Victoria Jones, Jada Johnson and Jailynn Schmaltz combined for 19 points to bring home the win.

Johnson led the Blue Devils in points for the fifth consecutive game, finishing with 17 points, four rebounds, four assists and one steal. Jones recorded a double double with 16 points and 10 rebounds along with a team-high seven assists. Symiah Bradley tallied 11 points, two rebounds, one steal and one block. Schmaltz came off the bench and shot 4-5 from the field finishing with eight points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal.

The Roadrunners were led by Myra Claas who ended the day with 14 points, two rebounds, one assist and one assist. Kimora McClure came off the bench and tallied 12 points on just 14 minutes of game time. Jadia Shipp led the team with 12 rebounds and had seven points with two steals.  

For the game, the Blue Devils shot 43.1 percent from the field (25-58), 26.7 percent from three-point range (4-15) and 61.9 percent from the free-throw line (13-21). The Roadrunners shot 31.3 percent from the field (20-64), 27.8 percent from three-point range (5-18) and 60 percent from the free-throw line (12-20). There was a total of 12 ties and seven lead changes during Saturday's battle.

The next game for the Lady Blue Devils is against the MidAmerica Nazarene JV at 7 p.m. Dec. 11 at MidAmerica Nazarene University.
