COLBY, Kan. - Colby Community College picks up another win in conference with a 62-56 victory over Garden City Community College. The Trojans women's basketball team competed hard from start to finish at home tonight, securing a six-point win over Garden City.
The Trojans, who have grown so much this season, were hitting on all cylinders on the offensive end, finding good shots with sharp execution and seeing the ball go in the basket. Good ball and player movement were evident from start to finish tonight, and we saw a much improved offensive flow. Shot selection was positive, mixing in aggressive drives to the basket and open looks at the 3.
The Trojans fought off a hard charge by the Broncbusters in the second half, having an answer to everything thrown at us. As always, tough defensive, a Coach Darin Spence staple, forced the visitors deep in their shot clock all game long and helped secure the much-needed Jayhawk conference win.
"I'm excited for our players. This was a hard-fought win that saw our players answer everything they threw at us. Garden is a pesky team who just keeps coming g at you and our players fought it all night. We have improved each day this season and are playing much better in all phases of the game. When we score the ball, we can play with everyone in this league. We have to keep working hard and handle each day as they come." said Coach Spence.
Colby will travel to Dodge City on Saturday, January 27th, to take on the Conquistadors at 1 p.m. CT. Their next home game for the Trojans will be on Wednesday, January 31st, at 5:30 p.m. CT as they take on Hutchinson Community College.
