Lady Blue Devils Drop KJCCC Game to Allen, 69-44

The Kansas City Kansas Community College women's basketball team (13-7, 2-2) fell to the Allen Community College Red Devils (14-4, 2-2), 69-44 Jan. 24 at Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley. The Lady Blue Devils once again started off hot, leading by as much as seven points with 4:31 remaining in the first quarter. However, they were nearly shut out of the third quarter, only scoring two points.

Jada Johnson was the only Blue Devil to finish in double digits, finishing with 15 points, six rebounds, three steals and one assist. Both Kaylyn Rogers and Symiah Bradley scored seven points each and combined for six rebounds, shooting 4-9 from the field. Victoria Jones had six points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal with the bench producing six points for the home team. Alexis Dukes had an and-one bucket in the second quarter, finishing with three points and three rebounds. Jailynn Schmaltz went 1-3 from the field and converted on 1-2 from the free-throw line adding three points. She also had one steal and one rebound.

The Red Devils were led by the 14 points from Noa Muranaka, who went 6-6 from the free-throw line with five assists and two steals. Khassidy Warr had a double double with 12 points and 10 rebounds and had three steals with one assist and one block. Khamille Warr shot 1-1 from the field but went 8-8 from the field. She would finish with 10 points, four rebounds, two steals and one block. Mafalda Chambel and Sarang West both tallied nine points each and combined for six assists, four steals and three rebounds.

For the game, the Lady Blue Devils shot 34 percent from the field (16-47), 31.3 percent from three-point range (5-16) and 58.3 percent from the free-throw line (7-12). The Red Devils shot 43.5 percent from the field (20-46), 57.1 percent from three-point range (4-7) and 86.2 percent from the free-throw line (25-29). Allen out rebounded KCKCC 32 to 25 and had 16 more bench points.

The next game for the Lady Blue Devils is against the Labette Community College Cardinals at 6 p.m. Jan. 20 at MCC-Penn Valley.
