HUTCHINSON, Kan. - The Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons women's basketball team used their Jayhawk Conference-leading attack to run away from the Colby Community College Trojans, 86-46, on Sunday at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.
After a back-and-forth first quarter, the home team used timely three-point shooting and forced turnovers to build a lead they would never return from. The Trojans would throw a handful of spurts at the Blue Dragons in the third and fourth quarters, but the damage was done, and the lead would not be relinquished.
"Hutch has been the top team in the Jayhawk conference for quite some time, and I can see why they still are the leading team in our league. If they shoot the ball the way they did today from the three-point line, they will be a tough matchup for anyone this year. Our challenge is to carry over the growth we see in practice in the the game setting. We are getting better daily, but we now need to have that show up come game time and for longer stretches of each game." Stated head coach Darin Spence
The Trojans return to the Colby Events Center to host the Haskell University Varsity Reserve team on Wednesday (December 29th) at 5:30 in their last non-conference game.
