Blue Devils Split Series with Coffeyville, 3-2 and 9-2

The Kansas City Kansas Community College baseball team (16-3) split with Coffeyville Community College (9-11) 3-2 and 9-2 Mar. 14 in Kansas City, Kan.

In the first game, Gehrig Goldbeck, anchoring the infield at shortstop, displayed a balanced approach with a hit in two at-bats, effectively capitalizing on a walk to contribute a run. Jackson Mervosh emerged as a standout performer, showcasing remarkable consistency with three hits in as many at-bats. His offensive prowess was further accentuated by driving in a run, demonstrating his ability to deliver under pressure and contribute significantly to the team's scoring efforts. Brady Patterson provided a crucial offensive spark with a hit and an RBI in two at-bats, showcasing his ability to drive in runs. Marcus Dierks secured a hit, a run, and a walk in his two at-bats. Brady Kern went 1-2 and scored one run as well as an RBI.

Maclane Finley threw a complete game for the Blue Devils and only let up two runs from the seven Coffeyville hits. He also tallied five walks and four strikeouts.

For the second game, Peyton Basler scored a run with one hit in four at-bats. Goldbeck managed one hit in three at-bats while Mervosh secured one hit in four at-bats and struck out once. Jase Woita scored a run despite not getting any hits in two at-bats, drawing one walk. Patterson contributed with one hit in four at-bats while scoring twice, and Dierks secured one hit in three at-bats, also drawing a walk but striking out once. Freddie Nolen IV got one hit in three at-bats but struck out twice. Frankie Santiago secured one hit in four at-bats but struck out once, and Kern recorded a hit in two of his at-bats while drawing a walk.

The Blue Devils threw five pitchers in the second game against Coffeyville. Mason Davenport threw for seven innings and let up two runs from just two hits. Bryson Vawter pitched for 1.1 innings and let up three runs from one hit and two walks.
