Dodge City scored in the opening minutes of both halves, and then held off several Kansas City Kansas Community College come back attempts for a 2-1 Jayhawk Conference win Saturday.

The loss was the first for the Blue Devils, who are 2-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play heading into a home contest with Coffeyville on Sept. 6.

The Blue Devils launched 11 shots including five on goal only to have Conquistador goalkeeper Eric Zalaya turn back all but one. The lone KCKCC goal was scored by sophomore Rory Stenhouse on an assist from J.C. Harmon freshman David Riveria at the 64:22 mark in the second half.

Dodge City took a 1-0 lead just three minutes into the game, Angel Andreu scoring on an assist from Andres Rocha, and then made it 2-0 with just 1:09 gone in the second half. Rocha again had the assist on the goal by Arthur Lemeunier.

Sophomore Axel Tonietto had three saves in goal for the Blue Devils, who gave up seven shots, five on goal.
