Blue Devils Split Series with Ellsworth, 11-4 and 15-6

The Kansas City Kansas Community College softball team (8-8) split the series against Ellsworth Community College (6-10) 11-4 and 15-6 Mar. 11 in Kansas City, Kan.

In the first game, Sydney Becker showcased her offensive prowess with four at-bats, tallying one hit and an impressive two RBIs. McKenna Lester demonstrated her batting discipline, securing one hit and drawing one walk in her three at-bats. Although she left two runners on base, her ability to reach base consistently posed a challenge to the opposing team's defense. Liberty Hawks exhibited both defensive solidity and offensive impact, recording one hit, scoring one run and driving in one RBI. While registering one strikeout, she managed to leave no runners on base, highlighting her efficiency in clutch situations. Adrianna Smith's performance behind the plate was complemented by her disciplined approach at bat. Despite not securing any hits, she drew one walk in her two at-bats, showcasing her ability to work the count and contribute to her team's offensive strategy. Annika Smith's offensive impact was highlighted by her ability to score runs and get on base. With two at-bats, she managed to score two runs and secure one hit while drawing one walk. Her ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities was crucial to her team's success. Gabrielle King emerged as a key offensive contributor, showcasing her hitting prowess with two hits and one RBI in three at-bats.

In game two,  Becker led the team's offensive charge with a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, contributing three runs and driving in three RBIs. Her consistency and clutch hitting were instrumental in the team's success. King provided crucial run support with her two hits, including a powerful triple. Her offensive firepower helped propel the team's scoring surge. Hawks delivered a stellar performance, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, two RBIs and a triple. Her offensive contributions and solid defense at third base were invaluable to the team. Lester made a significant impact offensively, recording a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with three hits, including a home run. Her ability to drive in runs played a pivotal role in the team's offensive onslaught. Smith contributed two hits and scored three runs for the team, and despite not recording a hit, Savannah Short maintained discipline at the plate resulting in two walks and one run scored. Kloey Dawes contributed to the team's offensive output with two RBIs with her double.

Hanna Acree threw for all five innings and let up six runs from the Ellsworth eight hits and four walks. Acree recorded three strikeouts while facing 29 batters.

The next game for the Blue Devils is against North Dakota State College of Science at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Mar. 12 in Kansas City, Kan.
