Cougar Wrestling drops pair of conference duals at Chanute #GoBarton

The Barton Community College wrestling team picked up four victories Tuesday evening in Chanute but fell on the short end of both conference duals to 10th ranked Northwest Kansas Technical College and host Neosho County Community College.

The Cougars grasped an early 6-0 match lead in the opener ensuing a forfeit victory at the 133-division before eventually falling 46-6 to Northwest Kansas Tech. Battling the Mavericks in the middle match of the night eventually dropping a 30-18 result, Neosho County was rejuvenated for Barton in the nightcap handing the Cougars 34-15 defeat as a pair of forfeit victories would be too much to overcome.

The Cougars will return to action next Wednesday, January 31st with a trip to Concordia to dual host Cloud County and Colby Community College.

Avery Wolf secured two of the Cougars' four wins on the evening in the 122 division, the first earning an open weight forfeit giving Barton their lone 6 points against Northwest Kansas Tech before notching a late second period fall over Neosho County's Teyton Burns to even the dual score at 6-apiece.

In the 141-division Stephan Baldwin rebounded from an earlier fall to claim a 7-4 decision in the nightcap over Jack Swenson gifting Barton its' lone lead against Neosho County at 9-6.

Heavyweight Nathan Agudzi-Addo concluded the evening fabricating the Cougars' final victory needing just 1:08 for a fall over Aidan Strube concluding his night 1-1 at 285-division after suffering a first period pin to the Mavericks Faustino Chaydez.

Ethan Boles 157-division scored the lone exhibition win of the evening rattling off 17 unanswered points to claim a 17-3 major decision after trailing 3-0 early on to Northwest Tech's Dawson Hogan.
