KCKCC Volleyball Tightens Hold on 4th Place with 9th Straight Victory

The KCKCC volleyball team made it nine wins in a row Wednesday, cruising to a 3-0 home court win over Highland Community College.

The win tightened the Blue Devils' hold on fourth place in the Jayhawk Conference at 3-2 behind three unbeaten powers, Johnson County (6-0), Neosho (5-0) and Cowley (4-0).  Overall, the Blue Devils are 14-5 heading into a Friday night contest at Fort Scott. The game begins at 6:30 p.m.

The Blue Devils dominated Highland from start to finish, crushing the Scotties 25-14, 25- 16, 25-16. The domination enabled Coach Mary Bruno-Ballou to go to her bench often as all 12 Blue Devils who played got into the box score.

"Really proud of this team. Winning nine in a row is a great accomplishment," Bruno-Ballou said. "We are peaking at the right time and our work ethic is amazing."

Statistically, sophomore Jayda Watson and freshmen Mercedez Brown led in kills with 10 each while frosh Glodalys Colon added eight. Sophomore Libro Amauri Browning led in digs with nine while sophomore Taryn Dial led in assists with 37.
