TJC soccer captures opener

DALLAS - No. 2 Tyler Junior College opened its soccer season with a 2-0 victory over Johnson County (Kansas) Friday at Richland College.

William Diaz was in goal for the clean sheet.

After a scoreless first half, George Braima, a freshman from Columbus, Ohio, had an unassisted goal.

With about six minutes remaining, Alfonso Ochoa, a sophomore from Tyler, netted a goal off an assist from Paul Obendahl, a freshman from Meerbusch, Germany.

TJC returns to play on Tuesday, traveling to Jacksonville to meet the Jaguars. The match has a 7 p.m. start.
