Box Score 2 The Highland Women's Basketball team have continued to stay on top through their first five games of the season to stay undefeated. The Scotties hosted the Grand View University JV Vikings on Thursday night giving them their first loss of the season 84-50. The Native Dream out of Omaha, NE came to town on Friday evening to take on the Lady Scotties but were unable to perform and Highland won 101-50.
Sophomore
Berniezha Tidwell performed consistent against the Vikings leading the team in scoring with 23 points with five rebounds, three steals, two assists, and two blocked shots.
Mariane De Caravalho earned a double-double along with teammate
Sydney Brinlee. Caravalho put up 19 points and 12 rebounds along with four steals. Brinlee had 11 points and pulled down team high 14 rebounds.
The team out rebounded the Vikings 53-28 and with a seven to 21 deficit on offensive rebounds. Highland's bench made 40 of the points while the Vikings bench only put in 13 points.
Native Dream came to town to take on the undefeated Scotties with six players. The rebounds and assists went in favor of the Scotties with 47 to 14 and 23 to 7. Caravalho led the offense with 24 total points and 15 rebounds, her 3rd double-double of the season.
Blaize Burgess was smooth from behind the arc going 5-9, 17 total points. Tidwell and Brinlee each put up 16 and 14 points respectively. The team made 21 of their 26 total free throws and had a 56.2 field goal percentage.
These two wins puts the Scotties at 5-0 this season. They will travel to Park University to take on the Pirates JV team on Tuesday, November 14th at 6:00PM with live stats and a live stream will be available.
